MINISTRIES
BUILDING & GROUNDS The Building and Grounds Committee is charged with overseeing the maintenance and improvements of our building and grounds.  It meets several times a year and holds work parties as needed.  The Garden Group, as a part of this Committee, plants flowers and shrubs and maintains them to make our garden area a beautiful sanctuary.  Bi-annual plant sales are held to raise funds for the maintenance of our gardens.
CEMETERY The Cemetery Committee is charged with the restoration, maintenance and care of the Episcopal plot, and the family plots of former parishioners of Christ Church at the Rural-Hope Cemetery in Hornell. This is a new Committee which will, over the next three years, clean, level and repair headstones and maintain the area around the stones of the ancestors of Christ Church.
EDUCATION
Religious study programs are offered on the third Sunday of each month, following coffee hour.  Additional programs are offered each year, usually during Lent and Advent.  Each program is typically 4-6 weeks in duration, one evening each week.

Church school teaches children the Church's heritage of faith and helps them learn how to participate in worship.  Its teachers use the Episcopal Children's curriculum and meet three times a year to plan lessons and activities.  Church School meets upstairs in the Parish Hall following Sunday morning services.

An Inquirers' Class is offered, as needed, for those wishing to be received or confirmed into the Episcopal Church and is conducted by the Priest-in-Charge.
EVANGELISM Fundraisers, such as spaghetti dinners, yard sales and bake sales, are held periodically to meet the needs of our church.

Greeters provide visitors with information about Christ Church, greet them before and after our Worship services and also at Coffee Hour, and strive to make everyone feel welcome

Volunteers make posters and write press releases, gather items for the Tri-parish newsletter each month, and keep the parish and community aware of Church activities.

Tour guides help newcomers and visitors discover our faith as expressed in our history and building.  They conduct guided tours on special occasions and upon request.
FELLOWSHIP/INREACH Parishioners maintain a bulletin board with news about Christ Church, Diocesan issues and events, and our members.  We also post public service information.

Volunteers send cards to offer support to our members who are ill and to offer congratulations and best wishes on other occasions.

Coffee Hour hosts are parishioners who sign up to provide refreshments at the coffee hour following our Sunday services.  The church provides coffee, tea, cups and napkins.  There is a "donation dish" out for contributions to help pay for supplies.

Volunteers take altar flowers after Eucharist to members who are hospitalized or homebound.

Volunteers provide meals (usually dinners) to parishioners who are ill or in any special need.

Volunteers green the church for the Advent season, do a special something for our children of all ages at the Easter Sunday service and place the memorial flowers in the church for the Easter Vigil and Christmas Eve services.

Christ Church provides an unsupervised room for parents and their children for use during service when the need arises.  Ushers are available to provide directions.

Volunteers on the phone chain provide a major line of communication among parishioners.  They inform parishioners by phone of scheduled or unscheduled activities, as well as learn of parishioners' concerns and needs.  Callers are given a message and a list of names to call from their home.

The Christ Church Youth Group offers young people, ages 7-12, an opportunity to be together on a regular basis.  The group's goal is to offer both enjoyment and an opportunity for service to our parish community.
PRAYER PARTNER The Christ Church Prayer Partners for 2007 and 2008 are St. Mark's Newark, and St. John's Sodus; The Rev. Carmen Seufert, Rector.
SOCIAL MINISTRY/OUTREACH The Social Ministry Committee coordinates the various outreach efforts of the parish and seeks to initiate new ministries within the congregation.

At the annual dessert party, which takes place in early December, everyone attending brings a donation for a local family along with a breakfast dish or holiday dessert to share.

Episcopal Relief & Development representatives encourage parishioners to give aid to people in need of disaster relief or developmental funding in the United States and worldwide.  A special collection takes place at our Christmas Eve Eucharist.

Faith in Action is a coalition of area congregations of many faiths formed to serve persons of all ages living with special needs and with inadequate personal and social support.

Food Pantry representatives encourage parishioners to bring canned or dried food, paper products and toiletries to the basket at the back of the Church.  Once a month, these representatives deliver the donations to local food pantries for distribution to families in need.

The Christ Church Thrift $hop sells better-than-average clothing for $1.00 per item.  Twice a year, a sale is held with all items priced at $.25.  The Thrift $hop is open every Tuesday and Thursday (except holidays or during funerals) from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  In-season donations are also accepted (no yard sale items, please).

The United Thank Offering encourages parishioners to share their blessings and donate to the UTO each Sunday before service.  A traditional in-gathering occurs in May and October, when parishioners bring their little blue box filled with their daily expressions of thanksgiving to the service.

The Parish Hall of Christ Church is utilized weekly and monthly by many community groups, including AA, Al-Anon, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, WIC and the YMCA, as well as by other groups on an as-needed basis.

STAINED GLASS RESTORATION This committee oversees the upkeep and restoration of Christ Church's valuable stained glass windows.  Its members make recommendations to the Vestry regarding necessary repairs and maintenance, and assists in the selection of qualified restorers.
STEWARDSHIP Christian stewardship is the grateful and responsible use of God's gifts in the light of God's purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ.  The Stewardship Committee works to help all parishioners understand and use our God-given resources of time, talent and treasure to advance God's mission in the world.

The Finance Committee's primary tasks are to monitor Christ Church's endowment funds and to prepare a budget for presentation to the Vestry at the October meeting.

The Pledge Secretary is responsible for recording pledges and preparing pledge statements to parishioners at the end of each quarter.

Tellers count each week's collection immediately following the Sunday Eucharist and deposit it in the parish checking account. Tellers work in pairs and count on a rotating basis.

The two Treasurers supervise both the receiving and expending of money and all check writing, as well as report on the financial condition of the Church to the Vestry.
